Artist's Description
Sometimes while observing wildlife through binoculars or a camera, I am surprised to see the animal looking back! They don't miss much!
This pair of young raccoons have mixed reactions to being so closely observed. While the one in back seems a bit uncertain, the raccoon in front appears curious about their observer. Raccoons are known for their bold curiosity and I would not have been surprised had this one moved in for a closer look!
Raccoons are the most widespread animal in New York State, found everywhere from secluded forests to urban centers.
Raccoons are intelligent, adaptable and resourceful. They are often portrayed as tricksters symbolizing their ability to outsmart others through cunning and wit. I could see these traits so well in this pair "Looking Back" at me.
