Sunflowers symbolize the hot days of summer. In the Northeast, they typically bloom in August when the days are the hottest. Their blooms are bright and the birds love the seeds that follow the blossoms. As a result, Sunflowers often grow wild from seeds dropped by birds. It is a wonderful surprise to see them growing in the back field with their bright blooms shining amidst the tall grass.

I love being outdoors and seeing the beauty of nature during all seasons. I love color and the great way you feel when colors come together in just the right way. This is the inspiration for my painting and most of my work depicts scenes from nature.
