Description
This painting depicts our journey in our boat, the Blue Heron, through the Hole in the Wall Bridge in a shallow channel in Canal Lake in the Trent Severn Waterway in Ontario Canada during the fall of 2015.
The Trent–Severn Waterway is a 240 mile waterway connecting Lake Ontario at Trenton to the Georgian Bay at Port Severn. Its waterways include the Trent River, Otonabee River, the Kawartha lakes, Lake Simcoe, Lake Couchiching and the Severn River. It is a great boating journey.
The Hole in the Wall bridge appears at the end of a long shallow approach. At first it looks as if it will be difficult to pass through in a large boat, but we found with some careful navigation that we had plenty of room. I painted this while traveling on our boat to preserve the memory of our journey through the Hole in the Wall.
